In 1804, on December 2nd, Napoleon was crowned as Emperor of France. It was a spectacular ceremony - even the Pope attended - and Napoleon and Josephine's garments were expensive and lavish. In 1839, the "Night of the Big Wind" hit Ireland on January 6th. It was the most damaging cyclone to hit Ireland in 300 years. In North Dublin, around 20% to 25% of homes were damaged or destroyed, and 42 ships were wrecked. Winds hit over 115 miles per hour.

In 1890, on July 3rd, Idaho became the 43rd state in the United States. On July 10th, Wyoming became the 44th state.
