1910 - By the time she was just 15 years old, the Mann Act, also called the White-Slave Traffic Act, was signed into law. Five of her watertight compartments failed but she was designed to survive only 4 being flooded. She began to sink. Over 1500 died, making it the largest maritime disaster in modern history.
