She was very kind, caring and people were drawn to her.
The last time I saw and spoke with Michelle was a couple of days before she died. I walked her and another friend, Laura, back home to their house. It was late, dark and snow was on the ground. I never let her walk home alone. On that walk on that night she stopped and turned to me and said "Joe, you have a really big heart, a really good heart." I can still hear her voice when she said it because it meant a lot to me then and still means a lot to me now. I don't think there's a better compliment you can receive. And to get it from someone as kind and caring as Michelle made it mean even more. It's been almost 26 years and I still think about her frequently.
