Did you know?
In 1962, in the year that Nereida Chico was born, lasting from October 16th - 28th, the Cuban Missile Crisis was the closest that the United States and the Soviet Union came to nuclear war. The Soviet Union had been installing a nuclear missile base in Cuba. The United States established a blockade to stop the base from being completed. Through secret negotiations, war was averted: the Soviet Union agreed to dismantle their weapons in Cuba and the United States agreed to never invade Cuba and to dismantle weapons in Turkey and Italy.

These Crazy Photos of our Ancestors need Explanation
Laughter is good for the soul - and as we now know, according to scientists and doctors, the body. Our ancestors intuitively knew this as well and they took advantage of new technology - photography - to make themselves laugh. We may not know what was in their minds at the time, but these photos still can make you laugh today. What is lacking is the caption - so in order to encourage your health and exercise your brain muscles, we're asking you to provide the captions. If you want to comment, click on the photo and make us laugh! Don't you wonder what the heck were they doing or thinking?
