1803 - In the year that Rhoda Margaret Boone Reagor was born, on March 1st, Ohio became the 17th state of the United States. Because Congress never passed a resolution declaring Ohio a state, however, it wasn't until 1953 that Ohio retroactively became an official state.

1821 - When she was 18 years old, on August 10th, Missouri was admitted as the 24th U.S. state. Once part of the Louisiana Purchase, the Missouri Territory had petitioned to become a state in 1818 but because slavery was an issue in the US at the time, the territory's request was controversial. With the Missouri Compromise of 1820 - which made Maine a free state and Missouri a slave state - Missouri was admitted to the US.

1836 - When she was 33 years old, on February 23rd, the Battle of the Alamo began. A group of American settlers were surrounded by the Mexican Army, led by Santa Anna, at the Alamo. The battle lasted until March 6th - all of the settler army was killed. Historians estimate that 400–600 in the Mexican Army were killed.

1842 - Rhoda was 39 years old when Sir Richard Owen, an English paleontologist, created the name "Dinosauria", which meant "Terrible Reptile" or "Fearfully Great Reptile". It has since been Anglicized to "dinosaur".

1846 - In the year of Rhoda Margaret Boone Reagor's passing, on April 25th, conflict widened in Texas' border disputes with Mexico, following the US annexation of Texas. On May 13th, the United States declared war on Mexico and the Mexican-American War officially began.
