Richard Carter passed away in 1895 in Melbourne East, Australia at 33 years old. He was born in 1862. He was born to Carter Richard Carter and Mary Coonan Carter.

In 1862, in the year that Richard Carter was born, on July 1st, the Bureau of Internal Revenue was created. Established to raise funds for the Civil War, income tax was supposed to be temporary and was allowed to expire 10 years later. The Internal Revenue Service was created in the early 20th century.

In 1870, when he was merely 8 years old, on October 6th, Rome became the capital of the unified states of the Italian Peninsula - the newly created Kingdom of Italy.

In 1875, at the age of merely 13 years old, Richard was alive when on February 21st, Jeanne Calment was born in southern France. Her father was a shipbuilder and her mother was from a family of millers. She died August 4th, 1997 of natural causes - the world's oldest documented person to have ever lived - at the age of 122 years and 164 days.

In 1882, Richard was 20 years old when on January 5th, writer and lawyer Charles J. Guiteau was found guilty of the assassination of President Garfield. Guiteau was "offended" because his job applications had been rejected by Garfield's government. He was sentenced to death -although his lawyer plead insanity - and hanged five months later, on June 30th.

In 1895, in the year of Richard Carter's passing, on September 3rd, in Latrobe, PA, the first professional football game was played. The game was between the Latrobe YMCA and the Jeannette Athletic Club. Latrobe won 12 - 0.
