Sarah Vic Greer died in 1896 in Sale, Australia at age 37. She was born in 1859. She was born to Ruttle Joseph Greer and Margaret Jones Greer.

In 1859, in the year that Sarah Vic Greer was born, on April 25th, the Suez Canal Company began construction of the Suez Canal. It took 10 years to complete the canal.

In 1862, she was just 3 years old when British citizen Anna Leonowens, a widow, accepted a job in Siam (now Thailand) to teach the children and wives of the King of Siam - he had 39 wives and concubines and 82 children. Taking her son with her and sending her daughter to England for schooling, she taught in Siam for 6 years - until the King died.

In 1874, when she was merely 15 years old, on November 4th, the Democratic Party regained control of the US House of Representatives - the first time since 1860. The Democrats now held 183 seats - up 94 - and the Republicans held 106 - down 93.

In 1885, Sarah was 26 years old when on June 17th, the Statue of Liberty arrived in New York Harbor. Two hundred thousand people and hundreds of boats greeted the statue. It had to be assembled but that had to wait until the pedestal was completed the following April.

In 1896, in the year of Sarah Vic Greer's passing, on January 28th, the first ticket for speeding - called "furious driving" - was issued. Walter Arnold of Kent England was fined 1 shilling plus costs - for going 8 mph. The speed limit was 2 mph.
