Do you know if this Dunn family were related to Dunn families from Illinios? My great- grandparents were Jim Edgar Dunn & Rosetta Stout Dunn. My grandparents were Ralph Vernon Dunn of IL & Pearl Louise DeVore Dunn of Ohio and both died in Pasadena, CA. Wini Richards Fletcher

In 1928, in the year that Vance Gene Dunn was born, aviatrix Amelia Earhart, age 31, became the first woman to fly solo across North America and back in August. In June, she had been part of a 3 man crew that flew the Atlantic Ocean but since she had no instrument training, she couldn't fly the plane - she kept the flight log. The North American flight became one of her many "firsts" as a female pilot.

In 1944, on November 7th, Franklin Delano Roosevelt was reelected to a fourth term as President of the United States. Running against Thomas Dewey, Governor of New York, Roosevelt won 53.4 of the popular vote, Dewey got 45.9%.
