    Verniece Ellen Lapan de Royce Obituary Verniece Ellen Lapan de Royce, 94, of Stowe, VT, surrounded by her loving family, went to heaven, Thursday Jan 11, 2018. Born in Detroit, Michigan on Feb. 22, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Frederick S. and Eva (Hutchinson) LaPan. She married Henry Simon Royce on Oct. 1, 1939, in Graniteville. Henry predeceased Verniece on January 28, 2011. Verniece spent part of her childhood in Michigan and moved to Vermont at the age of 13. When she was 16 years old she married Henry and followed him to Maine. While in Maine, during World War II she worked as a welder. She moved to Groton, Conn. in 1952, where she was happy and busy raising her 7 children. From 1968 to 1975, with her husband, they opened Royce Travel Trailers on Route 184 in Groton, Conn. She later worked for several local businesses. In 1981, she and Henry retired back to Vermont, built a home and toured the country in their RV. Verniece was very active in the New London (CT) Motorcycle Club, and in later years the Green Mountain Roamers Snowmobile Club, she was a lifetime member of the Harry N. Cutting American Legion Post # 59 of Waterbury VT. Verniece is loved and mourned by her children: Alice Pelletier, of Groton, Conn., Lyle and Lynda Royce, of Myrtle Beach SC., Terry and Brenda Royce, of Sebastian Fla., Lindsey and Morgan Royce, of Morrisville VT, Paul Frederick Royce, of Swanton VT; Alice is predeceased by: a daughter, Patricia Royce, a son, Wayne Royce.. At the time of her passing, Alice has 19 grandchildren, Daniel, Carol, Richard, David, Charleen, Mark, Chrystal, Terry II, Wayne II, Sheri, Lynn, Samantha, Jeremy, Carolyn, Angela, Danielle, Shaun, Steven, and Joshua; 42 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Verniece has 4 sisters, Gloria Allen, Darlene Leaor, Eva Parks, and Shirley Morrison; one brother Jack LaPan. She is predeceased by one sister, Elva Buska, and one brother, Frederick LaPan Jr. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated from St. Andrew Catholic Church in Waterbury on Friday Jan. 19, 2018, at 1 p.m. with a reception to follow in the church parish hall. Friends may call at the Perkins-Parker Funeral Home in Waterbury, VT on Friday Jan. 19, 2018 from 10 a.m. until noon. The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be considered to Lamoille Home Health and Hospice, 54 Farr Ave Morrisville, VT 05661, or online at www.lhha.org
