Wilburn Riggins of Waldo, Alachua County, Florida was born on December 23, 1918 in Pierce County, Georgia United States to Benjamin James Riggins and Minnie Viola (Hyde) Riggins. He had siblings Charlie Riggins, Wilburn J Riggins, Lorena (Riggins) Strickland, and Daphane Riggins. Wilburn Riggins died at age 64 years old in February 1983.

Introduction

Wilburn Riggins was born in 1918 to Benjamin James Riggins 12 January 1884-1924 and Minnie Viola Hyde Riggins 12 Aug 1894-1972. He grew up in the Pierce County Georgia area. Wilburn served in the United States military during World War 2 in the Pacific Ocean area. He drove heavy equipment such as a bulldozer. He was stationed in Hawaii and was there during the air raids by Japan on 7 Dec 1941. He married Buela Minnie Harvey 1906-1992. He was living near Waldo, Alachua County, Florida when he passed away. He is buried at the Greenlawn cemetery on Beach Blvd. in Jacksonville, Duval, Florida. Wilburn had 3 siblings: Lorena Riggins Strickland 1914-1978, Daphane Riggins 1916-1932, and Charlie Riggins 1921-1972. Wilburn had a niece Charlene Strickland Farrell 1954, nephew Rodney Strickland 1936-1964 and nephew Robert Lynn Strickland 1951. Wilburn also had great nieces Dawn Strickland, Amy Farrell and great nephews Kenneth Strickland, Joseph Farrell. One great great niece Jayme Pitts 2008 and great great nephews Chase Farrell 2006 and Asher Farrell 2020.
