Adrian Eaton Owen Waters b. 7 Sep 1924 d. 26 Nov 1990 was born in Brideweir, Conna, County Cork Ireland and died in Whangarei. NZ. Buried in Maunu Cemetery, (Whangarei) Maunu Park Block Thirty Two Plot 4710 on 27 Nov 1990. Eldest child of 7, of Dr E.W.Waters of Brideweir and Anne Martin Orr b. 27 Mar 1897, d. 30 Mar 1969. Adrian was educated at St.Columba’s College and Trinity College Dublin. Adrian having sold Brideweir in 1953 married Rosemary Isabel Warren-Perry on 6 Mar 1956 at St. Catherine’s Church, (Church of Ireland) Rincurran, Kinsale, (engaged on 10 Aug 1955). Rosemary was born 20 Sep 1933 in Bandon Nursing home Co.Cork, Ireland on Fair Day in Kinsale (3rd Wednesday in September), daughter of Henry George de la Poer Warren-Perry (10 Sep 1882 - 01 May 1954) and Isabella Mary Lucas (06 Apr 1900 - 31 Mar 1901). Adrian and Rosemary and family with his mother Anne Martin Waters nee Orr and his sister (Maeve) Jacqueline Nichola Maeve Waters immigrated to New Zealand on 12 Dec 1964 on the Northern Star, (Shaw Savill Line). Adrian studied at Trinity College, Dublin for 2 years until his father died in 1945 when he returned home to run his father’s property. Shortly after their marriage Adrian and Rosemary purchased a farm “Knockroe,” Knockroe, Kilmacsimon, Bandon on the Bandon River 1956 (sold in 1964) and pursued a successful career in farming, breeding and exhibiting pedigree Jersey cattle. He had six generations in a direct line, a feat unequalled in any Irish Jersey herd, and there was only one herd in England that could claim this distinction. Adrian served as Church Warden in Christ Church, Innishannon, Ireland c. 1956-1959. They left Ireland on 23 Oct 1964 and boarded the Northern Star from Southhampton on 30 Oct 1964 and set sail at 3pm. They bought a farm in Whangarei, Northland, NZ in 1966. They were Naturalised as New Zealand citizens on 10 May 1976 in Whangarei. Adrian and Rosemary pioneered the the French breed of beef cattle Blonde d’Aquitaine in New Zealand and Rosemary was granted Life Membership in Mar 1995 of the Blonde d’Aquitaine Society of Australia and NZ. The farm was sold in 1989. From 1966, during the next 15 years he increased the size of this farm 3 times by buying adjoining land until the property contained 645 acres (261 hectares), running both dairy and beef cattle. Due to failing health since 1972, he sold the farm in 1989 to Bruce Savill. Adrian was a Life Member of the Cork Historical & Archaeological Society. Adrian had many interests, including Botany, Philately, Antiques on which he was an authority, and he travelled extensively.

I'm a Founder of AncientFaces and support the community answering questions & helping members make connections to the past (thus my official title of Founder & Content and Community Support ). For me, it's been a labor of love for over 20 years. I truly believe with all of my heart that everyone should be remembered for generations to come. I am 2nd generation San Jose and have seen a lot of changes in the area while growing up. We used to be known as the "Valley of Heart's Delight" (because the Valley was covered with orchards and there were many canneries to process the food grown here, which shipped all over the US) - now we have adopted the nickname "Capital of Silicon Valley" and Apple, Ebay, Adobe, Netflix, Facebook, and many more tech companies are within a few miles of my current home in San Jose (including AncientFaces). From a small town of 25,000, we have grown to 1 million plus. And when you add in all of the communities surrounding us (for instance, Saratoga, where I attended high school, living a block from our previous Mayor), we are truly one of the big cities in the US. I am so very proud of my hometown. For more information see Kathy - Founder & Content and Community Director
My family began AncientFaces because we believe that unique photos and stories that show who people are/were should be shared with the world.
