Anna Sara Dorn Turnbull
I have an old photograph of Anna S. DORN of Johnstown, NY which was taken at the Johnson Studio in Cazenovia, NY and dated 5 May 1879. Two additional notations appear on the back of the photograph including "Caz. Sem." and "Paddock". Anna appears to be in her teens or 20's at the time the photograph was taken. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following info regarding Anna and her family:

Anna Sara or Sarah DORN was b. 21 Jun 1855 or 1857 or 1858 in Johnstown, NY to parents Eli J. DORN (1821-1910) and Margaret WERT (1831-1899). Anna was one of 7 children born to this couple including, Anna; Louisa H.; Elmer J.; Mary C.; Estella or Estelle “Estella”; Hattie or Kattie May or Mae; and Margaret Adelle or Adelia DORN, all born between 1857 and 1868. Anna’s father was married previously and had three additional children including Ida W.; Delilah “Lilah”; and Eleanor Ella or Elia DORN, all born between 1851 and 1855.

Anna was a graduate of the Cazenovia Seminary in NY, and she married Professor Frederick James TURNBULL (1859-1927) of Oil City High School on 21 or 29 Jun 1887 in Johnstown, NY and they had three children including George Fredrick; Theron Dorn; and Elizabeth May or Mae TURNBULL, all born between 1890 and 1900. Anna died 11 Mar 1908 in Oil City, PA where she had lived for 17 years and is buried in the Johnstown Cemetery in Johnstown, NY. Her obituary lists her surviving family members including her husband; three children including George F.; Theron D.; and Elizabeth M. TURNBULL all of the home. Her father was still alive as well and living in Johnstown, NY, as were her siblings Mrs. C. M. WELLCHARD of Carthage, NY; Mrs. Estella LOTRIDGE of Fonda, NY; along with Elmer J.; Ida; Lilah; and Hattie DORN all of Johnstown, NY.

I’d like to get this treasure back to family and would appreciate you contacting me if you are a member of this family or you know someone who might be.

Thanks,
Shelley
Date & Place: at Johnson Studio in Cazenovia, Madison County, New York 13035, United States
