Used to pick up soda bottles ,and sell them and buy cigs. Bottles were a penny apiece , then went up to ,two and three cents, finally a nickel .

Oh yes. My dad received free cigarettes while in the navy and my mom got her first cigarettes at the doctors office. That’s how it started for them.
