Obituary for Douglas Hans Holbrook
Douglas Hans Holbrook
Douglas Holbrook of Simsbury, Connecticut passed away on Friday, October 26 at the age of 47 leaving his family, friends and an entire community in mourning.
Doug was a devoted husband and a loving father. He was a wonderful son, brother, friend, colleague, coach and overall person. He was born in Charleston, S.C. on May 20, 1965. He later lived in Salt Lake City, Utah where he graduated with honors from the University of Utah and also earned a Jurist Doctorate Degree. He met his wife and soul mate there in 1989. After marrying and later welcoming his two cherished daughters, they moved to Connecticut. He became a Simsbury resident in 1999 and a proud father to his treasured son the same year.
Doug is survived by his beloved wife, Teressa Holbrook, his daughters Devin Holbrook and Aliza Holbrook, and his son Dylan Holbrook; his parents Suzanne and Richard Burbidge and Doug and Shelly Holbrook; his siblings Mark Holbrook, Keith Holbrook, Greg Holt, Beau Burbidge, Chris Burbidge, Michael Burbidge and Makara Burbidge; grandparents John and Catherine Hans and Vivian Wetzel; and numerous aunts, uncles, in-laws, nieces, nephews and extended family.
A vibrant and giving man, Doug was actively involved in the local community and volunteered regularly to help with sports, school activities, local fundraisers or simply lending a hand to someone in need. He loved to spend time with his family and friends and enjoyed entertaining, cooking, skiing, hiking and making family trips to Florida, Utah, Delaware, Maine and more.
Doug will be remembered for so many reasons, but mostly for his infectious smile, generosity, free spirit, and most importantly, his absolute love for his family.
There will be calling hours open to the public on Friday, November 2 from 11am-1pm and 5-7pm at Vincent Funeral Homes at 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury.
In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to a fund that has been set up for the Holbrook family c/o Sovereign Bank, 741 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury, CT 06070,
