Drought in 1930
In the 1930's, South Dakota had a severe drought. the Vernon Evans family, of Lemmon South Dakota decided to leave the "grasshopper-ridden and drought-stricken area" for a new start in Oregon or Washington. This is a picture of the family (in their Model T) near Missoula, Montana. On the road, they're living in a tent. They expect to drive about 200 miles a day in their Model T and arrive in Yakima (Washington) in time for hops picking.
