This city flourished initially in large thanks to the famous Niagara Falls waterfall which provided large amounts of inexpensive power. This cheap and abundant power source led to the rapid rise of industry, especially coupled with the large number of Italian and Polish immigrants that came to the area to work the steel, chemical and manufacturing plants.
