On this day in 1932, FDR announced that he was running for President. We're used to seeing him in a wheelchair but in this 1920 photo (when he was Assistant Secretary of the Navy and in full health) you can see how tall he was. A year after the photo, he contracted polio (or perhaps, as it is thought now Guillain–Barré syndrome).

Library of Congress says 1920. The hair fits. He was Assistant Secretary of the Navy 1913-1920.
