Gerald's parents were Dora E. and William B. McConnell. They had children Hilton, Charles, Gerald, Wanda, and Rebith (sic). When he filled out his draft card for WWII, Gerald said that he was 21 and not married. He was living in Fresno California and worked for George Schneider doing "ranch work". He was 5 feet 11 inches, weighed 145 pounds, had a light complexion, brown hair and blue eyes. his next of kin was listed as William B McConnell, his father. On Gerald's enlistment record on August 19, 1944 in San Francisco California, he was enlisting as a private, was single, and with an education of 3 years of high school. He was a citizen of the United States and born in Arkansas. He was living in Fresno, California. His civil occupation was "Semiskilled chauffeurs and drivers, bus, taxi, truck, and tractor". Gerald was discharged from the United States Army on August 19 1944. Gerald married Ruby Frances McConnell (1922 - 1991). He had children Gary, Jerry, Reggie, Rita, Debbie, and Donna. Gerald was a veteran of WW2. On his grave is written, "Gerald W McConnell US Army Air Corps World War II" Gerald obituary is at Gerald W McConnell: Obituary

We used to be known as the "Valley of Heart's Delight" (because the Valley was covered with orchards and there were many canneries to process the food grown here, which shipped all over the US) - now we have adopted the nickname "Capital of Silicon Valley" and Apple, Ebay, Adobe, Netflix, Facebook, and many more tech companies are within a few miles of my current home in San Jose (including AncientFaces). From a small town of 25,000, we have grown to 1 million plus. And when you add in all of the communities surrounding us (for instance, Saratoga, where I attended high school, living a block from our previous Mayor), we are truly one of the big cities in the US.
