Gregory Beckerleg was born to Richard Henry Beckerleg (1924 - 1997) and Janet Isabelle Barger (1924 - 1986), and he had two siblings. He was a punk rock musician and an original member and fuzz/feedback guitarist of The Cramps, a band that played a significant role in launching the punk music revolution in the late 1970s. Beckerleg was known for his unique pockmarked facial features and skunk dyed forelocked hair-do. He had a talent for creating distorted noise on his Flying V guitar.
After departing The Cramps in 1980, he went on to perform with the band Beast until 1984 and later with The Dials from 1992 to 1995. In the period before his death, Beckerleg had formed a new band called Shiver. His legacy in punk rock music remains strong, and he is remembered as a talented and innovative musician who made a significant impact on the music scene of his time.
