My grand parents in 1923 , my grand mother was pregnant.Those are the first of nine children the couple would have butas it was usual four of them died very young .
Could have been Crib death, not enough vitamins from mom's body during pregnancy, hereditary health problems........but for sure we should never blame the mother , she suffers and wonders what went wrong, could she have done something to prevent it. Even today it is still a mystery why babies die suddenly when all appears well
Rose Gasak yes, my grand mother was a strong woman , always had a good health and passed at age of 92 years old in excellent shape , able to make embroideries without using glasses .Babies were very vulnerable , but a simple feever could be enough to kill.the so called Spanish influenza killed lots and lots of people.
Lovely family. My great grandma had 14 children. Two died when they were approximately 2 yrs old per my grandma. Then her husband died & she had to raise 12 children alone. They all survived to become good men & women. She sold her land & was a midwife to buy food for her kids.
