Joseph Carl Ross

After his mother's second marriage to Jeff Bob Ross, Joseph changed his last name to his stepfather's last name, Ross. He was born Joseph Carl Espinosa Jr. The attached 1930 Census incorrectly listed family surname as Espinoza with a z. He married my mother, Alberta Louise Chambers on June 13, 1948. My mother was fifteen and a half and Joe was eighteen and a half when they were married. I was born when my mother was only seventeen. They were married for two and a half years. I was ten months old when they were officially divorced. The last time my father visited me was in 1952. My mother said he brought his new wife with him for the visit at my mother's home. My mother said his new wife was very nice and was pregnant. She said Joe was hoping for a boy this time. I had regular visits with my paternal grandmother Pauline who was married to Stan DeLeary at the time. They were very kind. I remember thinking that Stan was tall and handsome. My mother and stepfather moved to California when I was five years old. My mother did not tell Pauline that we had moved. My mother asked her mother, Madelyn Chambers to go to where Pauline worked to tell Pauline that my mother did not have time to contact her before we moved. Pauline was very angry and told my grandmother Madelyn that she would never have anything to do with me in the future. I never saw or heard from grandmother Pauline again. I never saw or heard from my father again. Joseph died of lung cancer.
