Kitty Wells - Country Singer dies
Ellen Muriel Deason, known best as "Kitty Wells", was born on August 30th 1919, and died Monday, July 16th 2012, in Madison Tennessee at the age of 92.

Remembered as the single most successful and influential female country singer of the 1950's - 1960's, her impact to country music is what paved the way for future female country artists. Kitty Wells' most popular songs include "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels" which sold more than 1 million copies, "Paying for That Back Street Affair", "Mommy For a Day" and "One by One".

Kitty wells was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1976 and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Awards in 1991.

My father's side is full blood Sicilian and my mother's side is a combination of Welsh, Scottish, German and a few other European cultures. One of my more colorful (ahem black sheep) family members came over on the Mayflower. He was among the first to be hanged in the New World for a criminal offense he made while onboard the ship.
