Description:
Molokanes (milk drinkers) were Russian peasants who refused to follow the hierarchy of the Russian Orthodox Church. They were known as "Milk Drinkers" because they drank milk on fast days (almost 200 days a year).

About 2,000 Molokans emigrated to Los Angeles California in the early 20th century. These are a few of the men who emigrated.
