She is best remembered for her movie roles of 'Claudine' in "Can-Can" (1960) and of 'Lili' in "G.I. Blues" (1960), and for her long dancer's legs, which measured 39 inches long (she was 5 feet, 8 inches tall). Born in Bombay, India to South African parents, she studied from the age of four to be a dancer. While attending the Royal Academy of Dance, she was determined to be too tall to be a ballet dancer, so she signed as a chorus dancer with the London Palladium, and then moved on to a career in European nightclubs. While dancing in Paris, she was signed to the role of Claudine in "Can-Can" (1960), which began her Hollywood career. When Soviet Premier Khrushchev denounced the dance as immoral, it was Prowse's photo that accompanied the news article, and she became an instant celebrity. That year, she won the part of Lili in "G.I. Blues" (1960), opposite Elvis Presley, and the tabloids followed her for the next several years. She became engaged to Frank Sinatra in 1962, but as her romance waned, so did her movie status. In 1965, she moved to television to star in "Mona McCluskey," but the show quickly ended with poor ratings after one season. After the movie, "Run for Your Wife" (1966) failed at the box office, her movie career also came to a halt, and she began appearing on stage and nightclub shows while making some bit parts on television, including being the first guest star on the first episode of "The Muppet Show" (1976). In 1987, she was mauled by a leopard while making a television show, "Circus of the Stars," which required five stitches; a few months later, while on the Johnny Carson "Tonight Show" to promote the "Circus of the Stars" show, the same leopard again mauled her, this time requiring 40 stitches. In 1994, she was diagnosed with cancer, and the disease went into remission by 1995, only to return later the next year. She died of pancreatic cancer in September 1996 in Los Angeles, California. Elvis Aaron Presley
Elvis Aron Presley, known as The King of Rock and Roll, was born to Vernon Elvis Presley (1916 - 1979) and Gladys Love Smith (1912 - 1958). He was their only surviving child. His twin, Jesse Garon Presley, died stillborn 35 minutes before Elvis. Elvis Presley was a United States Army veteran, having been drafted at the peak of his career in 1958 (See Elvis Presley Drafted! for details). While he was stationed in Germany, he met 14-year-old Priscilla Beaulieu, the stepdaughter of Air Force Officer Paul Beaulieu. Eventually, Priscilla moved in with Elvis and they married. In 1968, Priscilla had Elvis's only child, daughter Lisa Marie Presley. The birth became a media sensation, as was everything that the King of Rock and Roll did. Elvis Presley's musical career was the stuff of legend and too long to discuss in this brief introduction. See Elvis Aaron Presley: Obituary but his downfall was the excess weight he added to his frame and his use of drugs to keep awake and to go to sleep. The abuse of his body eventually led to cardiac arrest in August of 1977. His music, however, lives on and still inspires ardent fans.

On 7 September 1961, he married actress Marcia Anne Henderson (1929 - 1987) and they remained married until she died of lupus. They had two daughters, Alenda and Mallory. Mallory, who was married to Steve Cangialosi, died 19 October 2005. Ivers died on February 13, 2003, at the age of 68 in Yakima. Prior to his death Ivers had been romantically involved with Patsy Peterson until her death. A memorial tombstone in his honor is located in the Terrace Heights Cemetery in Yakima, Washington. Although his remains are not located there, his memorial is located next to another marker with the same birth surname as his, "Prestlien". The headstone says "Green-Go Daddy".

For fifty years I have been a Document Examiner and that is how I earn my living. For over 50 years I have also been a publicist for actors, singers, writers, composers, artists, comedians, and many progressive non-profit organizations. I am a Librettist-Composer of a Broadway musical called, "Nellie Bly" and I am in the process of making small changes to it. In addition, I have written over 100 songs that would be considered "popular music" in the genre of THE AMERICAN SONGBOOK.
My family consists of four branches. The Norwegians and The Italians and the Norwegian-Americans and the Italian Americans.
