Fashion used to be so elegant - and so much work! The hat, the hair, the high collar, the lace . . . loving it all but it probably wasn't comfortable! :(

Really stunning. She died the year I was born. Do you remember mohair? I get a rash just thinking about it.

Lori Tierney for some reason I saw you in this lovely lady’s face. ☺️ Slight resemblance or I’m seeing things, not sure!

Victorian fashions were comfortable because the fabric was all natural for the most part and would breathe. They also wear easily depending on what decade you are dressing for .

Ree Young You would have liked Eigenkleid - no corsets, easy to wear and they were designed to be sewn and put on by the wearer.

Trying to balance that hat held on to a swept-up hairstyle with just hat pins would give me a headache. That doesn't have anything to do with natural fabrics...there are more ways to be uncomfortable than just being too hot.

Don't mind the lace, but the high collars would have driven me nuts. I can't stand to even have my coat or sweater buttoned on the top button. Been like that since childhood. Makes me feel as though I'm choking.

Try a woolen coat from as late as the 1960’s and it is hard and heavy.

I don't know - the fabrics have changed so much (even since the 1970s) that everything is more comfortable?!
