This photo was discovered behind another that hung in our home since at least 1950 in Chillicothe, MO. The frame was very old. Don't know if anyone can identify these people or advise on what to do with an unknown deteriorating photo.
Looks like it could be a mother and daughter. Since it was behind another framed picture, I presume it was placed there to protect it. This may have been a picture of relatives in the front (cover) picture. A little sleuthing as to people who lived in Chillicothe up through 1950 may provide clues as to identity. Is there a local genealogist or museum who might be able to help?
I'm sure this has meaning for their descendants somewhere. At the very least, it should be preserved from further deterioration. I would put it under glass and consult a local photo restoration craftsperson. You can also take a high-resolution digital photo of it to help preserve it. Good luck.
No, my family had the frame. My mother;s photo was in the front. Someone probably gave her this frame and I don't know if she knew this photo was in the back between two cardboard sheets. I found it after she passed. We knew almost everyone in Chillicothe though and my older sisters don't have an idea of who they could be. I don't need this, just wanted to see if there was anything I could do to stop the deteriorating and if there is a home for large lost photos like this. I will contact the museum there and see if they are interested. Thank you for your comments.
