William B. Mayer

Photo found in an antique shop in Thomasville, GA. Photographers mark: "WM McHENRY, PHOTOGRAPHER, FREEPORT, ILL." 1860 census says Mayer was born in 1839, PA. Parents: Jacob and Mary Mayer, born in PA. Residence in 1860 was Freeport, IL. There was a William B. Mayer who fought in the Civil War in the 92nd IL Infantry. Entered the service as a 1stSgt and left as a 2ndLt. If you want the photo, let me know.

I am not related to William Mayer, but I have been helping a friend research the members of the 92nd Illinois Infantry. I have one photo of Mayer but this one is better and I would like to have it if possible. I would like to post the photo to his family tree on FamilySearch and then either pass it along to my friend who maintains a website dedicated to the 92nd, or donate it to the Stephenson County Historical Society.
