I was told that my g.g.grandmother was Martha Glenny Stevens. I know she was born in Canada and came to the US with a woman named Marie/Maria Ardis or Ardos who was either her mother or a close relative. I found them both on a census in KS. Martha, also listed some places as Myrta, married Thomas Earl Thorp. She was born in 1827 and died in Portage county WI in 1906. Martha has been an elusive character for me to track down. Does anyone have anything they could add? Thank you so much.

I know nothing of my family my parents past away so I will tell you what I know and maybe you can tell me the rest.
I am William Calvin Stevens JR. his wife is beverly stevens maiden name scott "Family says I should have been III"
My Dad was William Calvin Stevens SR. I don't where he was born I know the family on a whole was from Arkansas and they owned i have been told the larges cotton farm in kelso county near little rock?
my grand father was william c. stevens also from ark.
My uncle "dads brother1" is adrian stevens his wife is peggy
I am pretty sure the other brother was gary stevens wife unknown.

This is a story from my husbands branch of the tree and I have gathered all the info about it I could. Great,great Grandpa Stevens came to this country abored a ship somewhere in the northeast. He was a young boy of around eleven or tweleve we were told. He sailed from possibly England or Germany with his parents and older brother. His brother and him were the only ones to make it to America alive. Both parents died aboard ship along the way. Both boys were near the same age not more than two years difference in their ages. The story is told they were sent to an orphanage upon arrival and were to be sent further west as part of work/adoption program. Possibly aboard one of the orphan trains we aren't sure. The story handed down says that the boys heard of this rumor and fled the orphanage in darkness the first night there. They traveled together for the first day then fearing being caught and brought back split up. Our brother went south. The lost brother went north never to be heard from again. Over the years my husband and his cousins and father in the military have heard similar stories from other service men but did not have the time to question their fellow service men. If this story is in your family as well please feel free to contact me. Our brother ended up in Texas and his name lives on today we are all the decendents of Benjamin Franklin Stevens.

Crust: 3 c. flour
1 tsp.salt
1 c. lard (or shortening, like Crisco)
3/4 c. cold water
Sift flour and salt. Cut in lard. Add water, blend.
shape into balls and refrigerate about 10 min. Cut
into 8 pieces; shape into balls. Roll out and fold
over after filled.
Filling: 1 # hamburger, raw
onion, carrots, potato, all diced
Mix together. Put a dab on crust. Dot with butter.
Fold over. Bake at 375 on lightly greased cookie
sheets for about 1 hour. Can make gravy to pour over
when served, or add ketchup
