2020 marks 20 years since the inception of AncientFaces. We are the same team who began this community so long ago. Over the years it feels, at least to us, that our family has expanded to include so many. Thank you!
Col. US Army, Vietnam veteran. He was married twice, first to Norma Jean Hisle (1925 - 1999), daughter of Elfleada Yowell and James Edgar Hisle, they had two children, then divorced; second to Betty Will Bell (1927 - 1999), daughter of Elizabeth Ophelia Kilgore and Allie Will Bell, they had one child.
Marris Edmund Speare is the son of Mary Rosenberg and Jacob Spear of Russia who eventually migrated to Malden MA along with their family. Morris Edmund, who departed Liverpool arriving in New York 8 Sep 1924 on the Franconia (1923), married Florence Jay Lewis (1878 - 1965), daughter of Mary Ann Morrison and Frederick Lewis Jr. Florence's family originated in Mi'kma'ki, Mi'kmaq homeland (NB & NS).
She was a very young child during the diaspora of Mi'kmaq peoples from Mi'kma'ki to Massachusetts in the late 1800s and may have known little about that period of her life. Florence Jay Lewis also Florence Lewis Speare, one of eight daughters of Mary Ann Morrison and Frederick James Lewis Jr of Wunamakik (Cape Breton NS) was a published writer and the wife of Morris Edmund Speare (1884 - 1974), the son of Mary Rosenberg and Jacob Speare. Florence Jay and Morris Edmund Speare were married ca 1915 and are not known to have had any children.
Lewis, Neale / Newell, Morley, Morrison, were part of the Mi'kmaq peoples' diaspora from Mi'kma'ki in the late 1800s. Mary Ann Morrison's parents are unknown at present. She was a Native Mi'kmaq child, adopted about the age of eight years old, possibly from Listiguj (NB). It's believed she was adopted by an elderly couple newly arrived in NB from Northern Ireland, so she learned to speak gaidhlig as a child. Mary Ann married Cape Breton NS 1865 to Frederick James Lewis Jr (1837 - 1897) and they were the parents of at least 13 children, eight daughters (Isabel Ellen, Lucretia Catherine, Margaret M. "Maggie", Anne A. "Annie", Florence Jay, Unknown, Louisa A., Effie M.) and five sons (Fred L., John H., Otto A., Waldo Arthur, Phillip Alexander), some of the children born Wunamakik (Cape Breton NS) and some born MA after the migration.

Frederick James Lewis Jr (Wolf Clan), the son of Eleanor Mary Ann Pitts (Wolf Clan) and Frederick James Sr, married Cape Breton NS 1865 to Mary Ann Morrison (ca 1843 - 1905). They were the parents of at least 13 children, some born Wunamakik (Cape Breton NS) and some born MA. Frederick James Jr died of "tuberculosis of the bowels".

Lucretia Catherine Lewis, the daughter of Jane Eleanor Newell and Frederick James Lewis Jr of Wunamaki (Cape Breton NS), married East Boston, Suffolk MA to John Charles Morley (1860 - 1940). They were the parents of at least six children, four daughters (Etta Louise, Martha Irene, Ruth Eleanor, Blanche Lillian) and two sons (Ralph L., Robert I.) all born MA.
John Charles Morley, the son of Jane Eleanor Neale / Newell and James Morley, married Boston, Suffolk MA 6 Jun 1888 to Lucretia Catherine Lewis (1867 - 1918), the daughter of Mary Ann Morrison and Frederick James Lewis Jr of Wunamakik, Mikmaki (Cape Breton NS). John Charles and Lucretia were the parents of at least six children, four daughters (Etta Louise, Martha Irene, Ruth Eleanor, Blanche Lillian) and two sons (Ralph L. and Robert I.).

Florence L. Bell, the daughter of Ruth Patrick and Allie Will Bell, married GA by 1936 Cordie B. Anderson (1904 - 2003). They are the parents of two daughters (Marjorie and Sarah Ruth) and one son (William "Bill" Anderson).
