Aunt Agnes, mother's sister
Agnes was my mother's (Susan Hollick Bacsick) sister. Her husband, Edward Sherrock, was GodFather to me and my brother John Philip Bacsick. I loved visiting their home on the Hazleton Terrace. It always had a lovely distinct smell and there was a pinball machine in the basement that I was allowed to play with whenever I stayed there. Uncle Eddie and his brother owned a car dealership in the Heights and he was always going somewhere for car shows and they would invite my mom and dad and me to go along with them for the day. I remember once going to the Kutztown Fair and my uncle got a horse shoe nail ring for me from one of the vendors. Another time I stayed with them, the bakery truck would come by and I told my aunt that i loved the buns with the cherry flavored icing. They were actually cinnamon buns with almond flavored icing that I swore was cherry. They also had a small dog, a terrier. He was so cute and I could play with him in the back yard. I cannot for the life of me remember his name although, I keep hearing Mr. Bird in the back of my mind.
I always enjoyed visiting and occasionally staying over night. My cousins, Susan and Theodore were somewhat older than I so I think maybe I helped Aunt Agnes fill that "empty nest" feeling while I was there.
