Parrie Powell:
Katherine Speights grand daughter "Parrie" - My grandma Katherine was God fearing, kind, loving, very firm and straight forward. I loved her strength, wisdom, and courage. She taught me to always keep God first, be honest, straight forward, and always stand firm on my word and beliefs. I am her son, Harry Speights' daughter. I was named after my grandma Katherine's sister "Parrie" which was my great aunt. I love and miss my grandma Katherine very much and wish she were here to see the current generation of grandchildren.
Parrie M. Powell, born March 7, 1967

James Henderson:
An old photograph - We are sorting family photos. One that I particularly enjoy shows my dad, Paul F. Henderson, Jr., in a suit and bow tie, sitting at a bar with another dashing young man. The back of the photo is enscribed with my dad's name, and the name Walter Nettbaum.
Based on the year, 1946, and my dad's likely age, 22-23, I did some Ancestry searching to locate Walter Nettbaums born around 1922 or 23, and perhaps in or around Chicago. I located several records, some of which seemed to indicate that Walter was wounded while on active duty in the USMC, possibly in the Pacific Theater. Among records I reviewed, a couple listed him within the long categories of Navy Department wounded in action.
My dad enlisted in January 1942 and served in the South Pacific. Maybe they were just two Reservists that bumped into each other in a bar. Or maybe they were on ship together. Or, perhaps, they served on Guadalcanal, American Samoa, or other particular zones. In any event, there is that picture, the information about Walter that I found on Ancestry, and, sadly, Walter's obituary.
Now Walter and Paul are beyond inquiry. But I still like the photograph showing two brothers in arms home again, and hopefully finding the way to make themselves whole again.

Iris King:
Besties! - Marsha Rene Hill & I grew up together as youngsters and we had the most fascinating childhood as I remember. Marsha lived with her grandparents Uncle Earnest & Aunt Mozell. Aunt Mozell was a hairdresser & a beautiful woman. Marsha & I would wait at the top of the hill for Uncle Earnest to come home (I believe he worked in a furniture store), he would usually bring us a treat. We went to church together & one time when the choir was singing, they were jammin; Marsha & I got out into the aisle & start doing the "twist", (we didn't know it wasn't secular music, it just sounded good to us) Aunt Mozell took us outside & gave us a whooping!!! We never did THAT again, although we were very young Aunt Mozell made sure we understood never to do that again. I LOVED Marsha so much as one of my 1st childhood friends (we were cousins). I think of you lovingly all the time Marsha💜

Kelli Brown:
I knew Rachel for many years, we went back to our early twenties and shared memories as coworkers and friends. She was a really good Hairdresser and could work magic along with the fun!
She was a proud mother and her son's are handsome and nice men.
She lived her life with a caring and open mind, she was a dog and animal lover, and always had room for a fur baby in need. The love in her heart was obvious and friendship and family were important to her.
I will miss my friend and I know we will see each again. ❤️🙏
Rosemarie Sweeny:
Aunt Aida - My Aunt Aida was the wife of my Uncle John, my mother’s younger brother, the brother of my Uncles Jim and Paul. The daughter-in-law of my Grandparents, Concetta Maria and Carmelo Bivona. She was the mother of my cousins Eleana Bivona and John Bivona Jr.
She was a beautiful and wise woman. I always cherish that she told me, “Every heart knows its own sorrows.” I realized that we aren’t the only one to know and feel what touches our hearts.
