Pvt Alton B. King was born to John N. King (1833 - 1894) and Amanda E. Layton (1848 - 1937). His father was born in Pennsylvania and his mother was born in New York. Alton had siblings Fred and Maude. Alton served in the United States Army in the Spanish American War. Alton King married Myrtle Maria (Piper) Ralstin (1892 - 1973) in 1910 and they had two children: Walter Davis King (1911 - 2004) and Gertrude Amelia King (1913 - 1921).
