George Frankenstein was born on March 18, 1878 in Dresden, Dresden Government Region County, SN Germany to Karl Franckenstein and Elma (Von Schönborn-Wiesentheid) Von Franckenstein, and had a brother Clemens Von Franckenstein. He married Editha King in 1939, and had a child Clement Franckenstein. George Frankenstein died at age 75 years old on October 14, 1953 in Kelsterbach, Darmstadt County, HE.

Baron Frankenstein

A photo of Baron Frankenstein by Bain News Service. No date. I googled him and the only references that came up were to Victor Frankenstein in the novel. Most of the photos taken by Bain News Service are from 1900 - 1930, some earlier, some later.

Soooo . . . this is spooky. No date, no reference to him, but this is a real photo at a real time by a reputable news service. I know that someone can solve this mystery - but I'm not sure that I want it solved! ;)

Kathy what I do know is that there is a real castle Frankenstein it's located near Darmstadt , Germany, My memory of the castle is there is a place where the montster was suppose to have stood. I think the entire family is gone..but I am not sure. The castle is not in good shape but you can tour it.

Found a Wikipedia article with a photo that looks very much like the man in your photo. Georg von und zu Franckenstein (18 March 1878 – 14 October 1953), known as Sir George Franckenstein, was an Austrian diplomat and a member of the Franckenstein family. Opposed to the Nazis, he became a British citizen when his post was suppressed in 1938.
