Accidental Drowning: It is believed that Claude Henri Gerdes was out fishing when he was washed of rocks by Sea at Maroubra, Sydney, NSW, Australia. Claude's body was never recovered and Coroners Enquiry was held on 9 June 1921 finding that Claude's death was an accidental drowning. Enquiry was held at Sydney, NSW by Coroner John ?. Registered at Redfern, NSW, Australia. Reg No. 5394.

At the time of Claude's death he only had one arm since his right arm was amputated after receiving a Gun Shot Wound whilst serving. Claude was a good and strong swimmer prior to his arm being amputated.
