Georgetown Observatory 1844 founder
Father James Curley, S.J. who planned and superintended the building of the Georgetown Observatory in 1844. Father Curley was born in Ireland 1n 1796 and died in Georgetown in 1889.
He taught natural philosophy and mathematics for forty-eight years at Georgetown College.
