Corporal Cyril James Shirley Stokes
A photo of corporal Cyril James Shirley Stokes taken by my grandfather Ted Clark in 1942. A diary entry made by my grandfather on 12/13 July states that 'Cpl Cyril Stokes died of wounds, shot up by enemy fighter as he made his regular visit to tanks with canteen supplies. Although Intelligence Corporal he took it upon himself to bring comforts and goodies to the tank crews when-ever opportunity occurred in the evenings, and in due course this devotion cost him his life'
