I went through elementary school with Duane and am sorry to hear about his death at such a young age. He was always such a kind soul and may he rest in peace.

at the time of his death, duane nordbeck was assigned to 3rd platoon A CO. 1/508 Airborne infantry 82nd Airborne division. the reason I know that because I was in the same platoon. about 5 months earlier 2 other guys in the same platoon were killed in a parachute jump at sicily drop zone at ft.bragg n.c. I remember that 1 of duane's hobbies was raising scorpions. what do you expect from a paratrooper? needlepoint?
