    Odessa Elaine Louise Cargile, devoted wife, loving mother, sister, grandmother and wonderful friend passed away Friday, May 16, 2003 at Hospice House. Encircled by the warmth and love of her family, she surrendered her long battle with cancer and went home to be with God. Elaine, 74, was born April 8, 1929, in Washburn, Mo., to Frederick and Myrtle (Watson) Daniels. She grew up in Washburn and married Gerald Cargile on December 14, 1946. In 1954 Elaine, Gerald and daughter Peggy journeyed to Texas to begin the next chapter of their lives. In 1957, they welcomed a son, Mickey, into the family and a few short months later the family settled in Odessa. Elaine was an active farmers wife and was dedicated to her family. Her days were filled with caring for her family, her pets and livestock, bird watching, gardening, quilting, baking, scrapbooking and sewing. Elaine had a keen interest in science and was an avid follower of the NASA Space Program from its inception. She also had an enduring love of her country and expressed her patriotism in many ways. The Fourth of July was one of her favorite days to celebrate with friends and family. Elaine possessed a kind and gentle soul and always found the good in others. She will be forever loved and greatly missed. Her parents, sister, Pauline Sisco and brother Robert Daniels preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband, Gerald Cargile; daughter, Peggy Cameron and husband Dwight of Odessa; son Mickey Cargile and wife Lori of Midland; twin sister, Evelyn Stone; granddaughters, Deanna Bledsoe and husband Stacy, and Amy Cornutt, both of Odessa; great grandchildren, Kelsea, Lindsey, and Makenzie Bledsoe, Chance Bryant, Dakota Cornutt. The family will receive friends and family from 6-7 p.m. on Sunday evening at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be at 9 a.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial Chapel with Rev. Kyle Rogers officiating. Memorials are suggested to the Odessa YMCA Childrens Daycare.
