Her biological fathers name was Dameico (I'm pretty sure that's spelled incorrectly )
She is pictured with her husband Andrew Mellin. She was not born in Oregon.

George Granville Short, known as "Jonah" sea captain of "The Joppy-ite" and "The Billy Bowen". Member of the Plum Island, Newburyport Life Saving Station ion the 1890's which later became the first US Coast Guard Station in the country. On June 26, 1892 he saved the lives of 4 men in a capsized boat in the mouth of the Merrimack River during a storm. He was awarded two Humane Society medals for his bravery. One from the city of Newburyport, and one from the state of Massachusetts.
