He was the son of Annie Pearl and George Washington Cobb. He had a twin brother, Herman Leo Cobb, and an older brother George Leonard Cobb. Two half siblings, James Roy Cobb and Fannie Cobb.
He married Audrey Mae Powell, daughter of Adam E Powell and Mae E Foster, Dec 22 1950 in Lucedale, George Co, MS. They had the following children: Harold Leon Cobb Jr., Kathleen Audrey Cobb, Susan Pauline Cobb, William Edward Cobb, Annie Pearl Cobb, Charles Dayton Cobb, Sherry Renee Cobb, and George Adam Cobb. Both Kathleen and Annie Pearl died as infants.
