    Howard boarded Lusitania with his father as 2nd class passenger. He was last seen on deck playing with some boys when the torpedo struck. Howard was lost during the sinking, his father went out of his cabin and ran on the deck to find his son. (Some stated Howard was thrown overboard with some boys when the torpedo struck)

Howard and his father had many adventures together and lived through them and Howard was Lucky. The two boarded Lusitania as 2nd class on May 1, 1915- but what Howard didn't know that 6 days later his luck will change. On May 7th the ship was struck by a torpedo from a German U-boat off the coast of Ireland and sank at 2:10 pm. Howard's father Walter went out of his cabin and searched the decks and called for his son. But Howard was nowhere to be found. His father survived the sinking. Reports said Howard was playing with other boys his age and possibly fell overboard when the torpedo struck.

Howard traveled with his father many times-even in Mexico. Reports said Howard was with some other boys during the time the torpedo hit the ship and somehow fell overboard. That was why his father Walter lost track of his son.
