    Obituary James Goldin Aberdeen American News, Aberdeen, South Dakota published 14 Nov 1975 MELLETTE – Services for James Goldin, 82, Mellette resident, will be 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17 at the United Methodist Church, Mellette, with the Rev. Monte Michaelson officiating. Burial will be in the Mellette Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites by the Ashler Lodge No. 86 of Mellette. The Coleman-Thelen Funeral Home, Redfield, is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from noon Saturday and all day Sunday at the funeral home and on Monday at the church. He died Tuesday, Nov. 11 at Dakota Midland Hospital, Aberdeen. Mr. Goldin was born March 22 1893 at Mellette. He spent his entire life in the Mellette area. He attended college at Redfield and later at Des Moines, Iowa. Ne married Edna L. Smith of Conde in 1913 and she died in 1966. He then married Hazel Stucker Bebo in 1969. He was a member of the state weed board, was on the first Mellette Agriculture Committee, was a member of the Spink County Crop Improvement Assn. and the Mellette school board for many years. He was a past master of the Ashler Lodge No. 86 for 57 years and was secretary of that group for 44 years. He was a member of the Yelduz Shrine of Aberdeen and the Order of the Eastern Star and was a worthy patron for 26 years. Survivors include his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Ann Nierman, Groton; two sons, Leland, Mellette; and Louis (Lewis), Stratford; two sisters, Esther Seymour, Fairfax, Mo.; and Olive Beall, Upper Marlboro, Maryland; two brothers, Fred, Orlando, Fla.; and Lyndon, Mellette; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother. Memorials may be directed to the heart fund.
