Fun, adventurous, far younger than her age.
Best memory: The time she arranged for her great escape from the nursing home in Filmore, Ca. Some other patients arranged for a wheel chair to be placed near the parking lot, my car not far from it, me distracting the nurse while the patients blocked the staff’s view, and helped her get into my car so we could go out to eat, go to the beach, a movie, a church because she said no one would look for her in there and we could have a better visit, then to dinner and back to the nursing home before they locked the doors for the night…. But she tried to talk me into taking her on a 6 hour ride up north to Carmel instead of returning to the nursing home where my cousin Gary worked. I wanted to, but I was in enough trouble with my aunt and the nursing home already. She just wanted one last adventure and she got most of her wish. We had a great day. Best ever. I miss her much, but I’ll see her again. Thank you for the great memories Grandma. The jello, the dimes in my shoes for phone calls, the fun sleep overs and for seeing me as I am..Another adventurous soul like yourself. My grandma was a writer anda poet. She had hoped to publish her manuscript and poetry. She loved art, her miniature dachshund named Mandy, perfumes, window shopping, lemons, magnolia trees, lavender, small decorative flower shaped soaps, Christmas trees , Barry Manilow and John Denver’s music, the songs of whales and the ocean, 1930s and 1940s music until the 1970s introduced Barry and John’s style. She loved sitting outside listening to high school football games across the street when she lived in North Hollywood, California. She loved birds and their songs, the sunshine and the days of rain. She bought me a guitar strap for my guitar and encouraged me to be creative. To paint and draw. She loved life and doing things, she had a sweet tooth, loved mashed potato and steak. Made the best gravy from scratch. Sometimes she would sit outside and she would cry quietly, but not often. She missed her mom and brother Robert. They lived in Massachusetts near Fenway baseball stadium. We visited when I was 7. Robert took me to a game. When I was ill, my grandma knew what to do. These are some of my memories. My grandma was a smart dresser. She always dressed her best. She loved to drive her car. She ate steak tartar. Loved flowers and socializing. She loved her family most of all, and her friends.
