    Mimi Bennett-Aronson returned home to God on Aug. 8, 2012. In early adulthood she was active in the Republican Party, including serving on Ronald Reagan’s gubernatorial campaign. She was an active member of the Boy Scouts for many years, including serving as commissioner for Humboldt County. Mimi returned to college in 1975 to earn a Bachelor’s degree in anthropology, graduating Suma Cum Laude from California State University at Dominguez Hills. She moved to Humboldt County with her husband Ron in 1981. She served as president of “The Friends of the Library,” the group that worked diligently to build a permanent library in Garberville. She and Ron learned to square dance and traveled to a variety of different cities, dancing their way around California. Mimi was an active member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Redway until its closing. She was a member of the Eastern Star and served in various positions including several terms as Worthy Matron. Loved by all who knew her, she was preceded in death by her parents, Mabel in 1985, and Joe in 1992. She is survived by her husband Ron Aronson of Garberville, CA; children, Rande Aronson of Minneapolis, MN; Tom Golden of Bellflower, CA; Karin Marr of Fortuna, CA; grandchildren, Sarina Huber, Angela Golden, Andrea Marr, Bryan Golden, Victoria Marr and Ely Aronson; and great-grandson, Vincent Huber. A memorial will be held for her at the Masonic Lodge in Fortuna, CA on Sept. 1, 2012 at 1 p.m., at 922 Main Street, Fortuna, CA.
