Ronald emigrated to Ellwood City, Pennsylvania from Swansea Wales in 1909. He boarded Lusitania as 2nd class with his mother Cecilia and brother Reginald (8) on May 1, 1915. 6 days later on May 7th Ronald and his brother were playing with their 6 year old cousin Helen Smith (she and her parents and infant brother boarded with the Owen family).
