    Solomon (Sol) BURNS, 86, retired farmer of the Athens community, died at 4 a.m. today at the South Bend home of his daughter, Mrs. George McKEE. He had been residing with his daughter for the past six months. Mr. Burns had many friends throughout the county, where he had resided throughout his entire life. He was born March 1, 1867 in Fulton county. His parents were John and Nancy (COX) BURNS. His wife, Mary [BURNS], preceded him in death in 1948. Mr. Burns was engaged in farming in the Athens vicinity for many Years. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Earl JOHNSON, Mrs. Benjamin LOWE, Mrs. George McKEE, all of South Bend; Mrs. Charles BAKER, Phoenix, Ariz.; three sons, Robert R. BURNS, Akron; Marion BURNS, Mt. Zion; Lester BURNS, Anderson; a sister, Mrs. Sarah RICKEL, of Wisconsin and twenty one grandchildren. A daughter preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. DST Thursday at the Moyer Haupert funeral home, Akron. The Rev. Daniel L. SLAYBAUGH will officiate and burial will be in the Mt. Hope cemetery, Athens. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Wednesday.
