    Thomas Philp Motko was born in Maple Heights, Cuyahoga, Ohio, USA on February 19, 1928 to parents Joesph Anthony Motko (1906-1967) and Agnes Margaret Evernsick/Ivansick (1906-1971). He was the oldest child and had siblings Mary (1927-1927), John (1927-1927), and Theodore Motko. He married Margaret Mary Matthies (1931-1994) and they had four children including Kevin Patrick Motko (1959-2002). Thomas enlisted on April 30, 1946 in Cleveland Ohio and was discharged on September 30, 1977 as a Sgt. He served during the occupation of Japan during World War II. He later re-enlisted in 1958 and served for over 20 years including several tours in Vietnam. He retired from the Army in 1977. After serving in the Army, he moved to California and worked for Northrop.
