  • Introduction

    A scholar, traveled a lot, published many books and articles, including on his native city, Wilno and about the history of the Kowzan Family that he traced down to the 1300-s. The seat of the Kowzans is in the region of Wilno. Now spanning Eastern Lithuania and Western Bielarus due to the massive land grab and borders having been moved after WWII and Poland losing much of its historical eastern territories to the USSR in 1945. The Kowzan's originate from old Polish nobility, bearing the ancient crest of TRABY - meaning " the Trumpets". Three interlaced trumpets on a red field. Traditionally a nobility crest was shared by several noble or aristocratic families. His only daughter immigrated to the US in the 1970-s.
