    Walter Van Billiard was traveling with his father and brother as 3rd class on the Titanic. All three were lost during the disaster. Walter's body was recovered along with his father and buried in Union cemetery in Pennsylvania.

Walter boarded Titanic as 3rd class with his father Austin and brother James (10). The ship struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic Ocean on April 14, 1912 at 11:45 pm then sank by splitting in two at 2:20 am. Walter, his father and brother sadly perished during the sinking. Both Walter and his father's bodies were recovered and buried in Pennsylvania (the state the family was going to emigrate to). Boys Walter and James' age were not able to board the lifeboats with other women and children as well as men.

The family was one of the English speaking 3rd class families on Titanic and that perished in the sinking. Walter's body was recovered by Mackey-Bennett and buried in Zion cemetery in Pennsylvania.
