Introduction

William Harbach was my maternal grandfather. He married Olive Irene Howes and had a daughter my mother Barbara Olive Harbach.He died whilst on duty as a air-raid warden in Waterloo Park when a bomb dropped on the park. The raids were called the Baedecker raids in April 1942. My mother was 11 years old at the time. He is remembered on a plaque in St Faiths crematorium as he was a home guard.
